Final Evaluation for InTASC Standards 1-10

U8 M11 Activity 1: Final Evaluation for InTASC Standards 1-10

Project Description

Overview Teachers find that regularly reflecting on their practice along with feedback from professional colleagues can be very helpful in continually improving their teaching. Throughout Module 8 you have reflected on how you are meeting the InTASC standards as well as having feedback from both your mentor and instructor about your practice. In this activity, you will make one final video and use it to analyze your practice on the TEACH-NOW Clinical Rubric. You are not expected to achieve a proficient score on every element on the rubric. This is an activity to help you appreciate the progress you have made in your teaching practice. When you have scored yourself on this video, you should retrieve your scores on your baseline from Unit 1, compare the two assessments, and write a reflection on how your teaching performance has changed over the past three months.

Performance outcomes

  • Candidates analyze their teaching at the end of clinical practice to reflect on their personal and professional growth since they began clinical practice

What will you do?

  1. Review Standards 1-8 in the ‘TEACH-NOW Clinical Rubric’ and ‘Ways of Thinking about the Clinical Practice’ documents. Also, review the ‘Tips and Strategies for Clinical Practice Lesson Submissions’ in the Activity Resources. Review the feedback you received for Standard 9 and 10 project activities.

  2. Write a detailed lesson plan for the lesson you plan to video. You must use the TEACH-NOW lesson plan template. Your lesson plan should clearly identify how you are using previous data to drive instruction through differentiation and next steps.

  3. Video record a lesson you teach this week. The video should be 20-30 minutes in length and demonstrate what you have learned through your entire clinical practice. Attempt to demonstrate implementation of specific feedback you have received over the past 11 weeks from your mentor, instructor, and peers in your lesson.

  4. Annotate the video (or write in a separate document with timestamps recorded) to demonstrate how you have implemented the feedback received on Standards 1 to 8 during your clinical practice.

  5. Write or record a reflection detailing what went well, what needs to be improved, what you will do next and what do you foresee as areas of growth after you complete your clinical practice. Include what you learned from the feedback received in Standards 9 and 10 as well. Use this reflection to complete the Self-Assessment rubric in the next activity.

  6. Save your videos in the YouTube Video library by clicking on the Upload to YouTube button on the Submission page. Label each video appropriately to help your instructor find the relevant videos.

Report requirements

  • Edited and annotated video of your teaching based on the feedback received on InTASC Standards 1 to 8

  • Lesson plan for the lesson taught in the video

  • Comprehensive reflection about how you met Standards 1 to 10

  • Video or audio of debriefing with your mentor

  • Confirm Verification of Clinical Practice Form on the Clinical Page

Notes Be sure to confirm that your mentor has electronically signed the Verification of Clinical Practice form after you confirm it on the Clinical page of the learning platform. If you have a virtual mentor, your site level administrator will sign this form. If you have met all of the requirements for the completion of the TEACH-NOW program, you should receive your Certificate of Completion within three weeks of completing this or your final module. When we have evidence that you have met all of the requirements for certification, we will send you the state form that verifies you have met the requirements of the District of Columbia (OSSE) or the state of Arizona. If you have questions about certification, please check the Certification page on the platform for information. For further clarification, contact TEACH-NOW's Certification Officer at certification@moreland.edu or submit your question at the bottom of the Certification page.
